battery module/pack manufacturing

MOST RELEVANT SKILLS:

  • DFM/DFA
  • FEA
  • PROCESS CAPABILITY STUDIES
  • CAD (SOLIDWORKS + CATIA)

During my 6-month internship as a concept & build intern on the global battery module/pack team, I was responsible for validating pack fastening and designing various fixtures to improve repeatability. I used statistical models such as gage r&r and process capability to verify that pack fastening method and quality equipment met specifications at high volume production.

Through this internship, I’ve had exposure & experience with various fabrication methods such as CNC, waterjet, laserjet, heat-treating, & 3D printing. Using FEA, I was able to optimize the design of 2 different production tools; additionally, I interfaced with suppliers to develop components with proper implementation of GD&T.

One of my most memorable projects was designing, fabricating, and implementing manual riveting stations to a production line. From this experience, I learned that manufacturing, especially at a higher volume is a massive undertaking; there needs to be constant communication between manufacturing, design, and production to ensure that what is represented in CAD is translated correctly to the real world.
