As a personal project, I worked in a team of three to design and build a homemade quadcopter. I designed several iterations of the quadcopter frame, using FEA to simulate forces and crash loads on the arms.I was involved in motor selection and electrical integration during the design phase. My teammates were responsible for the majority of the wiring. When completed, the quadcopter was able to reach 15 mph of controlled flight.
